Money for the 43 projects is funded by the Rebuild Illinois capital program.
Our grant will fund the removal and replacement of our existing accessibility walk path and walls to update and widen the space to conform to current accessibility standards as much as possible with in the perimeters of our building. To further enhance access to our museum we will update the main accessibility entrance with a wider electronically activated door. All other entrance doors will be stabilized to reduce sticking and improve ease of use with modern latching systems and electronic locking systems with key cards to control access while maintaining the historical appearance of the entrances.
This is the third Grant Veterans Memorial Hall has received thru the Illinois Public Museum Capital Grants Program since 2012. This program has provided $632,900. in capital improvements to Veterans Memorial Hall at no cost to Winnebago County taxpayers.
The Public Museum Capital Grants Program is designed to help public museums in Illinois expand and upgrade facilities and create new exhibits and other physical facilities to enhance public museums' abilities to meet their mission.
