A Quilt of Valor® (QOV) is a quality, handmade quilt that is machine or hand quilted. It is awarded to a Service Member or Veteran who has been touched by war.  The Quilt says unequivocally, “Thank you for your service and sacrifice in serving our nation.” To use the term Quilt of Valor, Quilts of Valor or QOV, the quilt must be a specific size, must have a label with required information, it must be awarded (it is not a gift) and it must be recorded.

Why: Many veterans use art as a form of therapy for various health issues relating to their military service. This event is in line with our mission at Veterans Memorial Hall and Museum, to honor the Veterans of Winnebago County through outreach, education, and events. “The Art of Healing, Comfort Thru Art” is a one-of-a-kind showcase for the Rockford area Veterans and those that wish to honor them.

Veterans Memorial Hall will be adhering to the current Winnebago County Health Department COVID-guidelines including that masks to be worn while in the building.

We would like to extend a special THANK YOU to Wayne and Mary Funnell for their generous support and to their daughter Alisa Funnell for her help with this event.
