FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Winnebago County, Illinois
Are you an art enthusiast? Do you have an appreciation for our country’s veterans? Come see original artwork created by Rockford’s very own veterans! Veterans and those of us who appreciate veterans who have sacrificed for our country are invited to attend.

Many veterans use art as a form of therapy for various health issues relating to their military service. This event is in line with our mission at Veterans Memorial Hall and Museum, to honor the veterans of Winnebago County through outreach, education, and events. “The Art of Healing, Veteran Showcase” is a one-of-a-kind showcase for the Rockford area veterans that includes 2D and 3D artwork, and lectures. Several veterans organizations will be present to assist veterans and educate the public on services available in Winnebago County.

Featuring the artworks of returning artists: Alisa Funnell, Nicole Taylor, Patrick Garcia, Kati Beck, Daniel Faler, Elisabeth DeWispelaere, and many other local veterans. Veterans organizations such as SheVets, Veterans Drop In Center, and more will be on hand to assist and answer questions. Veterans History Project students from Harlem High school will also be on hand to show some of their work and talk to veterans interested in being part of that program.

“The Art of Healing, Veteran Showcase” Spring ArtScene Exhibit will be held Friday, April 12, 2019 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., and Saturday, April 13, 2019 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.  at Veterans Memorial Hall and Museum, 211 N. Main Street, Rockford, IL 61101. Admission is free.  Light refreshments will be provided, and veterans will have their artwork for sale to the general public.  For additional information, please contact Leanne Wright at Veterans Memorial Hall and Museum at (815) 969-1999.
